Running to Danger

Welcome to the official documentation for the San Andreas Fire Rescue (SAFR). This page serves as an introduction to our department, our solemn oath, and our role as the first line of defense between the citizens of San Andreas and disaster.

What We Do

The San Andreas Fire Rescue is the state's primary all-hazards emergency response agency. When a call for help is made, we answer. From roaring structure fires and devastating traffic collisions to life-threatening medical emergencies and large-scale disasters, our personnel are trained, equipped, and ready to bring calm to chaos. We are the protectors of life and property, dedicated to mitigating emergencies with skill, courage, and compassion.

Core Divisions & Responsibilities

Our operations are divided into several critical functions, ensuring a comprehensive response to any crisis:

🔥 1. Fire Suppression Operations The foundational duty of our department. Our highly-trained firefighters are experts in combating and extinguishing fires of all types. This includes:

  • Responding to and suppressing structural fires in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

  • Extinguishing vehicle fires and managing subsequent scene hazards.

  • Providing the primary response for rescue operations and on-scene incident command.

  • Protecting life and property under the most extreme conditions.

❤️ 2. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Often the first on the scene of a medical emergency, our Firefighter/Paramedics are the heartbeat of the community. This vital service involves:

  • Providing immediate, life-saving medical care for injuries and illnesses.

  • Administering Advanced Life Support (ALS) interventions prior to hospital arrival.

  • Responding to everything from major trauma incidents to citizen medical assists.

  • Working seamlessly with area hospitals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

3. Specialized Operations Command For high-risk, low-frequency events that require a unique set of skills and equipment, our Specialized Operations Command deploys its elite teams:

  • San Andreas Hotshots: The tip of the spear in wildland firefighting. These elite, helitack-qualified firefighters are often air-dropped into remote wilderness areas to combat wildfires at their source. They are trained to operate unsupported for extended periods, creating firebreaks and protecting our state's natural resources and remote communities.

  • Hazardous Materials Team (HazMat): The state's foremost experts in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. The HazMat team responds to incidents involving dangerous substances, tasked with identifying, containing, and decontaminating affected areas to protect the public and the environment.

  • Air Operations Division:

    • Air Med: Our flight paramedics and pilots provide critical care transport from the sky. They can reach inaccessible locations and rapidly transport critically ill or injured patients, ensuring life-saving care within the "golden hour."

    • Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF): Stationed at Los Santos International Airport (LSIA), this elite crew stands ready for aviation-related emergencies. Operating highly specialized apparatus, they are trained in advanced tactics to combat jet fuel fires and perform rapid rescue operations on commercial and private aircraft.

🤝 4. Community Safety & Prevention We believe the best emergency is the one that never happens. Our community outreach focuses on:

  • Conducting fire safety inspections for businesses and public buildings.

  • Educating the public on fire prevention, CPR, and emergency preparedness.

  • Building trust and ensuring our community knows we are here for them, on their best days and their worst.

Our Mission & Values

Our mission is to preserve life, property, and the environment through rapid emergency response, public education, and dedicated community service, serving with honor and professionalism at all times.

We are guided by our core values:

  • Courage: Facing fear and adversity head-on to protect those in need.

  • Compassion: Treating every patient and victim with empathy, dignity, and respect.

  • Teamwork: Relying on the strength and trust of our fellow firefighters to overcome any challenge. We go in together, and we come out together.

  • Integrity: Holding ourselves to the highest standards of character and professionalism, on and off duty.
