What We Do
The Los Santos County Sheriff's Department (LSSD) is the primary law enforcement agency responsible for the safety and security of all citizens within Los Santos County, from the urban heart of the city to the quiet towns and open roads of the countryside. Our duties are vast and crucial to the function of a safe and prosperous county. We are dedicated to the fair and impartial enforcement of the law, the prevention of crime, and building a strong, positive relationship with the diverse communities we are sworn to protect.
Core Responsibilities
Our daily operations are broken down into several key areas:
🤠 1. Patrol Operations This is the backbone of the LSSD. Our deputies are the most visible members of the department, covering a massive and diverse patrol area. They are responsible for:
Responding to 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency calls across the county.
Conducting proactive patrols in both urban and rural environments to deter criminal activity.
Enforcing state and county laws, including traffic enforcement on city streets and county highways.
Providing immediate assistance to citizens in need and being the first on the scene, no matter the location.
🔎 2. Sheriff's Investigation Division (SID) When a serious crime occurs within our jurisdiction, our highly-skilled detectives take the lead. The SID handles:
In-depth investigation of major crimes such as homicides, robberies, and organized crime throughout the county.
Gathering and processing forensic evidence from a wide variety of crime scenes.
Interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects to solve complex cases.
Working alongside the District Attorney's office to ensure successful prosecutions.
✈️ 3. Specialized Bureaus To handle the unique challenges of a large county, the LSSD maintains several specialized bureaus, including:
Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB): Our elite tactical unit for high-risk situations like hostage rescue, active shooters, and serving high-risk warrants in any environment.
Air Support Division (ASD): Providing aerial surveillance, pursuit support, and a strategic overview of the vast county landscape.
K-9 Unit: Utilizing highly trained canines for narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, and search and rescue operations in both urban and wilderness areas.
Court Services & Custody Division: Managing the security of the Los Santos County Courthouse and operating the Bolingbroke Penitentiary, ensuring the safety of inmates, staff, and the public.
🤝 4. Community Partnership We believe that law enforcement is a collaborative effort. Our community partnership initiatives focus on:
Building trust and positive relationships between deputies and the communities they serve.
Engaging with citizens through town hall meetings, public events, and outreach programs from Davis to Paleto Bay.
Working proactively with community members to identify and solve local issues before they become major problems.
