Metagaming

Metagaming Explained

Metagaming occurs when a player uses Out-of-Character (OOC) information to influence In-Character (IC) decisions. It's important to ensure actions are based solely on what the character knows. Here are some examples of metagaming:

  • Using Discord, streams, or OOC chats for an IC advantage.

  • Reacting to system messages (e.g., /do) that the character shouldn't perceive.

  • Applying knowledge of locations or player names that weren't learned IC.

  • Seeking revenge with a new character for events that happened to a previous one.

  • Calling for help after a character is dead or incapacitated.

Always aim to keep your character's actions authentic to their experiences and knowledge within the game world.
